In the aftermath of the tsunami and earthquake that happened in Japan, many companies and organizations are trying to engage in efforts to help the devastated country and its residents. One such company is Lush Cosmetics. This disaster really hit home with them –Lush has 1,600 staff members, 145 shops, and a manufacturing facility located in Japan.

To aid in the relief effort, the company has created limited edition products to benefit Japan–100% of the proceeds from these products will go to Japanese charities.

The Rising Sun soap ($5.95) is modeled after the Japanese flag. It’s scented with a sweet cherry fragrance and helps to soften skin. All proceeds from the sale of the Rising Sun soap go directly to Peace Boat, which is a non-profit organization in Japan that has been organizing volunteers, transporting aid, and giving hot meals to people affected by the disaster.

Lush has also created three new Charity Pots ($5 each). The body lotion in the Charity Pots is made with Fair Trade organic cocoa butter and a little bit of ylang ylang and geranium. 100% of the sale of each Charity Pot will be donated to the following organizations: Rescue Stock Yard, a Japanese disaster non-profit organization that has begun emergency relief as well as long-term support for thousands of survivors in Japan; the NGO Collaboration Centre for Hanshin Quake Rehabilitation, which has been present in the Miyagi Prefecture providing support to the disaster victims there; and Animal Peace, a grass-roots animal welfare group that has been providing medical care, food, and blankets for animals that have been displaced as a result of the disaster.
